Degus

Adopted from SARS BC

On May 20, 2007 I brought home a trio of adorable degu girls! Before they could come down from Canada I built them a cage to live in, bought them special food, and hoped they would enjoy the toys.

Here is thier cage! I didn't take any photos before putting them in it because it looked sad and empty. It has been all setup and waiting for them since Friday.

Now that they are home they have names:

So, now you are asking how the hell can I tell them apart!?!?!?!?! Well, on these three it is amazingly easy. Peanut has white rings around her nostrils. Butter has a giant white splotch in the center. Jelly has no white and is the smallest.

They are estimated to have been born in 2005/2006 and are full grown. About a year old and adorable :D

So far Jelly is pretty shy, but Butter seems to rule them all. I am excited for them to get to know me. They seem curious about me so I'm confident they'll want to snuggle soon.

The reaction of thier new neighbors!!

Be'Lanna and Seven wonder what the hell is going on. Infact, Seven is usually ready to run out of the cage up my arm onto my head to leap to the top of the cage whenever I open thier door. The degus next door have her hiding in the igloo so that they can't get in her door. They seem surprised by thier new neighbors. I do find it funny that my rats seem a bit frightened.
